"60th Anniversary Celebration"
Dates: September 29th - November 10th, 2009
Free Preview: September 27th from 3 - 6 PM
Our “60th Anniversary Celebration" show runs from September 29th to November 10th. This juried show celebrates both the gallery's rich history and our many Bay Area artists with over 300 works of art. The show features work in oil, acrylic and watercolor painting, pastels, printmaking, mixed media, collage, sculpture, pottery, woodworking, glass and jewelry.
The gallery was founded in 1949 by a group of artists and art lovers who wanted a place in the Central County where artists could gather and exhibit their work. Through thick and thin times and numerous venues, including a Quonset Hut and the old Walnut Creek nut hulling warehouse, the vision grew from annual outdoor art shows to a welcoming gallery with an art rental program
The Public is invited to a 60th anniversary celebration (free) and preview of the show on Sunday, September 27th from 3 - 6 PM.
For sixty years Valley Art Gallery, a true grass roots art movement in the Diablo Valley, has operated as a non-profit (501c3) volunteer organization, rising from the needs of the community. Valley art was a pioneer in Contra Costa County in its commitment to the idea that art is a vital component of the quality of life in any community.
